Fitness And Happiness

Not a lot of fitness buffs and gym going youngsters know the secret to be meaningful and consistent exercise. You can sweat away all you want, and it will have physical indications too; your waist might slim up, or your buttocks might get more in shape, but you will never be truly satisfied. After all, there is a difference between doing something and ‘feeling’ it.

Most of the time when we are exercising, the routines remain the same, it’s just that the effects go unnoticed by us. After a particularly sweaty gym session, you might feel fatigued but also rejuvenated. This burst of freshness follows the exercise sessions that you engross yourself in. It does not take a heavy Cardio to be happy or satisfied. It could be your every day five-minute routine.

The trick is to create space for happiness to flood in. Once you wipe everything off your mind and concentrate on the tension and relaxation of your muscles, you will feel far better about yourself. We are not just plucking claims out of thin air, research backs most of these claims up. According to research, fitness can lead you to pure happiness.

This is quite a revelation. Wait a moment and see all that is unfolding around you yourself. You will see billboards and advertisements directed at making you enormously happy. It seems like everyone from car dealers to cosmetic companies and even drug dealers are selling happiness, but it remains elusive. What the people tend to forget in the glow of these neon lights constantly is that happiness resides within them and there are simple ways to unlock it.

Take happiness for example. It resides right in your body, you just need to master the techniques to unleash it. Part of the trick is to eat healthily and take care of your body, but the other equally important half that we often overlook is fitness. Together fitness and health replenish and tone your body up. While at work, they also rob you of fatigue, stress and other tensions, you even get a good night’s sleep. What results is pure unadulterated happiness.

Happiness and fitness go hand in hand and feed off each other. Being happy will make you physically active. Being joyful energizes you immensely. It also replenishes you farther away from stress, and we all know stress can take a physical toll on your body and incapacitate you for days evoking tiresome bodily conditions. Depression and other neurotic disorders are well-documented examples of conditions which can make getting out of bed very difficult. For you, it is only important to preserve the two, and in reward, you get multiplied returns of each because they mutually create each other. This, in essence, is the manner in which your happiness and fitness or functionality are correlated. There are several examples of two movements converging in history. Take, for example, the anti-consumerist movement of the sixties which mainly included hippies and the sustainable farming movement spearheaded by the peasants, farmers and the laborer’s movement in the sixties. Their efforts were well directed at the attainment of just one thing; happiness.

What will bring you happiness?

You will get blissfully happy if you take a wholehearted interest in just the right things. These include health and fitness. If you have a regular exercise routine that keeps you active and energizes and the right diet plans which include the right sort of nutrients, you will remain both physically healthy and mentally sharp which will increase your productivity. Love is another element essential to happiness. Find the people you love and find the work you love and stick to it. Love for yourself is important, but love for others is equally as important.

What will not bring you happiness?

The pursuit of money, material and aesthetic gains will never bring you happiness. In fact, they will add to your insecurities and make matters worse for you by making you feel constantly distressed and tired. Youth and beauty fade away with time. The pursuit of these results in only a recreation of an illusion. You will have to throw these habits away to be happy and lead a successful life. Add to these various negativities selfishness and the pursuit of purely individual interest. These forms of Machiavellian narcissism result in purely problematic situations which isolate you entirely from the support network that you have.

You do not even need to look for these forms of happiness if you just make these simple lifestyle choices happiness will follow you and those around you everywhere, and it will not be the source of fleeting happiness for you but a permanent state of bliss. You will have to leave room for spontaneity though and explore the joy in yourself every time you gain a small victory.
